A Visit from Lt. Andrew Larson

Over the past two weeks, Arlington Heights Fire Department Lieutenant Andrew Larson visited with some of our first and third-grade classrooms.  Students watched a Lion King video that featured the characters going over basic fire safety.  Lt. Larson tried on all of his fire gear and explained what each part of the gear was and how it helps them fight fires.  Then of course he answered questions.  The kids learned about:

-getting low to the ground if there is a fire
-fire alarms in their houses and at school
-safety plans (always having two exits out of any room)
-fire safety plans at school
-leaving valuables behind in the event of a fire
