Family Roller Skating Night is next Thursday, January 19
The PTA sponsored Family Roller Skating Night is next Thursday, January 19th from 6:30-9:00pm. Come for a fun-filled evening with your family to the Orbit Skate Center in Palatine. Admission is FREE! Also, please bring a non-perishable food item or personal essential item to donate to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry. NEW! Wine Tasting Event - Save the Date: Friday, March 10
Please mark your calendars for A Wine Tasting Event at Vintages Wine Shop on Friday, March 10, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This is a special private event just for the OMS community, so grab your OMS friends and parents from your class to come out for a fun evening (planned and sponsored by the PTA). Tickets are $20 per person and will be on sale Feb. 1. Space is limited. More details coming soon! 5th Grade Pennants & Banner
5th Grade Parents - the next time you are at Olive, be sure to check out the pennants and 5th Grade banner that are now hanging in the Commons. Each 5th grader has their own pennant. It is a special way to recognize them as they start their last few months at OMS. Executive Committee Nominations Needed
The OMS PTA Nominating Committee needs your suggestions to help us fill the vacancies in the 2017/2018 Executive Committee. The open positions are Co-President, 1st Vice President, Co-2nd Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These terms are all 2 years long. Please click here for a description of these positions. Everybody Counts
"Everybody Counts" is a disability awareness program for all grades. Each grade level curriculum teaches about a different disability: vision, hearing, motor and cognitive impairments as well as learning disabilities. Classroom presentations will be scheduled February 6th - 10th. We need 2-3 volunteers per class to present the programs to the students. Presentations should take about 45 minutes. If you are interested in volunteering, please look for the SignUp Genius that will be mailed out next week. More information is available on the PTA website. Technology Fair - Saturday, March 4
District 25 and Arlington Heights Council of PTAs will join with Arlington Heights Memorial Library for a Technology Fair on Saturday, March 4th, 2017. Students can demonstrate how they use technology in the community or in their everyday lives to the Arlington Heights community. Projects to be presented will be selected by AHML to ensure appropriate space and topic. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS REGISTRATION FORM ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2017.Selected presenters will be notified by February 6th, 2017.

College Scholarship Opportunities for High School Seniors
Do you have a high school senior or know someone in the area that does? The Arlington Heights Council PTA scholarship is open to any student who spent 3 years in a District 25 school with a minimum 3.0 (on a 5.0 scale) and who plans on attending a post-secondary school as a full or part time student. Yearbooks were not included with school pictures this year and need to be ordered separately. The last day to customize your Yearbook is April 25, 2017. Dr. Bein - Open Door, Tuesday, 1/17
An invitation is extended to district parents and community members to meet with Dr. Lori Bein, Superintendent, during Open Door sessions. No appointment is necessary, but it is helpful.Open Door with the Superintendent is a chance to discuss ideas, concerns, or get answers to questions. Conversations from everyone are welcome.
