Second Graders Celebrate Culture Day!

Second graders became world travelers on Wednesday, Feb. 7th as they “visited” five different countries with their classmates to share and learn together. The students carried personal passports with them as they joined a new team of five with a member from each class. Within each team, there was a child who specialized in information about one of these five countries: Greece, India, Australia, Brazil, and Kenya. Prior to this day, the students had researched life for children in those countries during lessons in the library media center. They worked with a partner to create a “Day in the Life” of a child video to show what life would be like for a typical child. On the Culture Day, the students shared their slideshows with each other and earned a flag stamp after “visiting” each country. After sharing, the students collaborated with their new teams to participate in a quiz show game of Kahoot about the five countries. Finally, they designed postcards to demonstrate what they had learned. It was a fun day of sharing and learning from each other!
