5th Grade Egg Drop

On, Thursday, September 3, the fifth grade students participated in the Annual OMS Egg Drop.  Students were grouped together to design a contraption to ensure the safe landing of their egg when dropped from the 5th grade balcony or the roof.  Each group was designated a certain number of straws, masking tape, and printer paper.  Over 40 contraptions were released from the balcony and 21 eggs survived.  Those that survived were dropped a second time and 13 eggs remained in tact.  Mrs. FitzPatrick, Ms. Davis, Mr. Harris, and Mr. Bob climbed to the roof while the students gathered outside for the final drop from the roof.  At the conclusion of the event, four teams created designs successful enough to save their eggs from the roof drop!  Congratulations to all of the 5th graders on a job well done!
