Reflections Workshop: A Reflections workshop is set for Thursday, 10/16, in the LMC during lunch recess for students to learn more about the different types of projects they can do as well as brainstorm ideas about the theme "The World Would Be A Better Place If..." To sign up, send email with your child's name, class section, and recess shift to Barbara Doulas and Jennifer Faley.
Senate Bill 16: Senate Bill 16 (School Funding Reform Act) proposes to RE-ALLOCATE existing funds from some areas to others which have less ability to pay. High poverty level school districts will benefit; however, some areas, including Dist. 25 and 214, will lose millions of dollars in IL state aid. IL Rep. David Harris will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on Oct., 22, 2014 at 7:15 pm at the Mt. Prospect Public Library. Can't go? Click here for more information on how to be heard.
4th Grade Performance: The fourth grade students will present two short informal music programs at Open House on October 22nd. Please feel free to stop by the commons to enjoy some singing.
Progressive Dinner: Please join us for a fun-filled evening with fellow OMS parents at the 3rd annual Progressive Dinner October 18, 2014. Please fill out and return this sign-up sheet with a check made payable to OMS PTA by 10/3/2014. Please let Angie Frye or Lindsey Campion know if you would like to be a host home.
Chess Club: The PTA will be sponsoring Chess Club this year for students to play chess and learn more about the game. All interested Olive students from grades K-5 are invited to join. Chess Club is for all levels — from beginner to experienced player (we'll teach you the rules!). It is not necessary for students to come to all meetings since each meeting has an independent lesson. Chess Club will begin October 20th and we want to make sure we have your email address added to our list. Click here for more information.
Drop off/ Pick up Procedures: Please review this document for current school drop of and pick up procedures. These procedures are to keep everyone safe. THANKS to all of our wonderful patrol volunteers for helping make this process run smoothly.
Box Tops/Labels for Education: It's time again for the box tops / labels for education class challenge! Please send in all non-expired box tops and labels with your kids from October 14th - 24th.
