Parent Teacher Conferences

OMS Parent Teacher Conferences Fall 2014
Directions for Online Sign Up

  1. Fall Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Monday, 11/24 and Tuesday, 11/25. The window for signing up for conferences will be Wednesday, 10/29 at 10 AM through Wednesday, 11/12 at 10 AM.  You will receive an email from OMS Administration on 10/29 initiating the sign up process.
  2. If you already received an email from your teacher regarding your child’s conference time, you do not need to sign up again using these directions, as your conference time slot is already blocked out on the schedule. This priority scheduling only applies to unique situations where certain school personnel are needed for a conference.
  3. Each teacher has a unique link, so if you have multiple children, you must login separately using the appropriate link. If you have any difficulty using the link, please try using a different Internet browser.
  4. On your child’s teacher’s conference schedule, identify which 20-minute time slot you would like to reserve. In the column labeled Available Slot, click on the SignUp button next to the time you would like to reserve, then click on the Submit and SignUp located at the bottom of the page.
  5. If you have a SignUpGenius account, choose “I’m a SignUpGenius member.” If you do not have, nor do you want a SignUpGenius account, choose “I do not have a SignUpGenius account” and fill out your name and email address. If you have multiple conferences to coordinate, you may want to consider signing up for a SignUpGenius account, as this will allow you to make changes as you go in and out of different teachers’ schedules.
  6. If you want to create a SignUpGenius account, select “Create an account at SignUpGenius.” If you choose to create an account, you will be able to log in and edit your time slot, if you need to make a change.
  7. If you would like to sync your conference time with iCalendar, select “Send me a confirmation email with an iCalendar (.ics) file.”
  8. If you have a specific question/area you would like addressed during the conference, please indicate this in the “My Comment” field.
  9. Click on the “Sign Up Now!” button.
  10. Do not forget to add your conference time to your calendar. If you do not have a SignUpGenius account and you log on to your child’s teacher’s schedule at a later date, you will only see time slots that are “Already Filled,” not specific names.
  11. You will receive an email reminder 4 days prior to your selected conference date.
  12. Join us on 11/24 or 11/25 to share in your child’s educational journey!

**To further assist you, an attached flyer includes these directions, along with screen shots. This information is also posted on the OMS Blog: (http://olive-marystitt.blogspot.com/) in the OMS Important Information section, which is located on the left-hand side of the screen.

We look forward to seeing you on 11/24 or 11/25 for your child's conference!

Target Time

At our most recent School Improvement Day (October 10th), teachers had an opportunity to collaborate and discuss their students individual growth and all of the amazing things we are doing to support and enrich their academic needs.  As part of this discussion, we made the decision to rename our Tier 2 instructional time to Target Time.  Since this time of the day is focused on meeting the needs of all students, we felt that it was best represented by this new name.  Soon you will be hearing from your child's classroom teacher about what skill your child will be targeting to support their continued academic growth at OMS.

Halloween

Hallowee
Our Halloween celebrations will be on Friday, October 31st. Students that will be going home for lunch on this day will be dismissed from the back doors, by the Commons, at 12:10 PM. They may then return at 1:05 PM to their morning line-up locations. Students that stay at school for lunch will have an opportunity to change into their costumes at 12:40 PM. A lunch permission slip will be sent home on Friday, October 17th. Please indicate on this permission slip if your child will be going home or staying at school for lunch. Permission slips are due back at school no later than Monday, October 27th.

Please help your child choose a costume responsibly, understanding that we wish to promote safety while having fun. Please be sure that students do not bring weapons (real or fake) to school or wear costumes that include blood or depict violence. Please also exercise caution in selecting a mask, as students will not be able to wear them during the parties and may be asked to remove them if they make walking in the parade unsafe.

If the weather cooperates, we will have our annual parade through the neighborhood, beginning at 1:30 PM. The parade route is as follows: Students exit OMS front doors and follow Olive Street sidewalk toward Greens Park, south on Douglas, west on Oakton, north on Belmont, then back to OMS through our playground area. Our kindergarten classes will be proudly leading the parade, followed by 1st through 5th grade students. Class parties will begin at the conclusion of the parade. If the weather decides to rain on our parade, we will move the fun indoors to the Commons. In this case, students in our first lunch session (1st, 5th, Range/Brown) will parade around the Commons beginning at 1:30 PM. Students in our second lunch session (2nd, 4th, Stevens/Molnar) will be a part of a costume parade beginning at 2:00 PM. Parents are welcome to congregate in the Commons to view these indoor parades, beginning at 1:30 PM.

We will have extra supervision in place on Friday, 10/31. We also ask that our parents be extra vigilant in all safety procedures around our school on this day, as extra traffic, excited students, and rushed parents can result in a very dynamic parking lot. Thank you in advance for your respect of the dismissal procedures at lunch and at the end of the day. We want to make sure that all of our superheros, princesses, etc. have a safe and fun-filled day!

We are looking forward to a boo-tiful afternoon!
