Fire Brigade!

On Thursday, Oct. 13 - our third-grade classes participated in the first annual team building activity with the principals.  In years past the principals always conducted a team building activity with 5th graders, this year Mrs. FitzPatrick and Ms. Davis wanted to invite other grade levels to participate in an activity as well.

Our third graders learned about a fire brigade.  Students were divided into teams of 7 where they had to use their fire-fighting tool (a spoon) to transfer fire fighting agents (cotton balls) to put out a fire (a red solo cup).  Brigade members were not allowed to touch the fire-fighting agent with anything other than their fire-fighting tool!

After a few rounds of "fire-fighting" a discussion was had on the value of teamwork, how verbal and non-verbal communication can be a positive or negative, and how by working together we can solve problems.
