Please join us to celebrate our 5th graders as they pass through the student created tunnel on the last day of school!  It is an Olive-Mary Stitt tradition to send our 5th graders onto middle school in a very special way.  All of our students K-4 line up to create a human tunnel and our 5th graders make their way through the tunnel as they are dismissed from OMS for the last time.  

All OMS parents and families are welcome to join this celebration by standing behind their child (K-4) or gathering at the end of the tunnel.

When looking at the map below, the tunnel is represented by the red line which flows from the front doors along the sidewalk and onto and around the blacktop.  Once 5th graders have made their way through the tunnel, parents and students can move to their reunification location where teachers will take their classes.

ABC 25 Winner - Ride to School with Officer Veenstra

Another ABC 25 Raffle Prize winner Olivia arrived at school this week with AHPD Officer Veenstra.  Olivia's class greeted her outside as she rode up in Officer Veenstra's patrol car with the lights and sirens going.  A huge thank you to Officer Veenstra for volunteering his time to make this a special day for one of our owls!

Happy Spring! The PTA program First Aid For Little People was offered earlier this month to First and Second graders during the school day. Thank you Chris Bialko and Katie Zabor for all of your efforts chairing this committee. We appreciate the help of all the volunteer parents who helped deliver the program.   World of Work Comes to OMS Spring 2018 So excited to announce that "World of Work" comes to Olive-Mary Stitt next Spring 2018. The purpose of "World of Work" program is to provide the 5th grade students an opportunity for a “real world” work experience. This program would afford the 5th grade children to see the value of hard work in different business settings. It would also allow them a window into the many steps involved in career aspirations. We will partner with local businesses and companies for the children to job shadow a few hours. Children will learn about career paths, job requirements, education and the importance of goals. The program will include a introduction to resume writing, beginner interviewing skills and a brown bag business lunch. This program must have enough chaperones to take flight, consider volunteering for "World of Work" PTA Program spring 2018. Plant Sale Pick Up - TODAY Friday, May 19, 12:30-4:00 The PTA plant sale pick up is today, Friday, May 19th, at the Hickory Meadows Pavilion at the corner of Douglas and Marion. The pick up will be from 12:30-4:00 pm. If your child is in CAP and you need a later pick up, please contact Kim Lindberg or Lonnie Sommer as soon as possible to make arrangements. Need Flowers? True Value is partnering with us this weekend, May 19th - 21st to help us and your garden grow! The PTA will receive $2 for every $10 spent on plants for your garden. When checking out, just mention you are with the Olive Mary Stitt PTA. It's that simple! See the flyer for more details. Fill the Nest Food Chain

Today, with the help of 3rd and 4th-grade volunteers, who gave up their morning recess, the Character Counts Fill the Nest Food Drive loaded 300 bags of food into a District 25 van and two parent SUV's to take to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry!  We are so grateful to have an amazing Character Counts committee that supports our students caring for others both in our community and globally.  Great job Owls and families!  We appreciate your supportive donations!

District 25 and OMS celebrates Allergy Awareness Week!

The week of May 15th - 19th our students will learn about the seriousness of allergies. During the lunch hour, students will watch short videos highlighting the importance of allergic reactions, how to recognize them, and how to keep friends with allergies safe.  Our school nurses will also share important information with the students.  Please talk with your child about what they learn each day.  A link to the videos can be found below:

Portillo's is located at 806 W. Dundee in Arlington Heights. Please show them this flyer or state that you are with OMS and a portion of sales will be given back to the OMS PTA. Thank you also to Brenda Larson & Angie Frye for organizing our Volunteer Appreciation reception last night. It was a fun night and a nice tribute to the amazing Olive volunteers.
